Record bid with release of 34 poetry books:
GUWAHATI, Feb 22: In an attempt to create world record in release of poetry books, 34 books of poems-10 in English and 24 in Assamese-composed by poet and Engineer Devajit Bhuyan was released at a function held here on Saturday.
The program was organised by the Sodou Asom Sahitya Sanmilani in association with Bahubak at the District Library auditorium during the third edition of its two day poetry festival. The event was inaugurated by Cotton University's Dr. Jagdish Patgiri, and attended by a large number of intellectuals.
The English poetry books were released by Rita Rajkhowa, author and former principal of Assam Engineering Institute, Chandmari, engineer and author Bandita Phukan, engineer, author and film director Chandra Mudoi; NEEPCO's former executive director DK Nath; architect, builder and social activist JN Khataniar; IIT Guwahati professor and Assam Jatiya Bidyalaya founder member SK Kakoty; ASTEC Director AK Misra; Don Bosco Engineering College director Monoranjan kalita; former Power Grid ED Kishore Kumar Choudhury and social and political activist Ramen Sarma.
The prominent persons releasing the Assamese poetry books were author Phanindra Kumar Dev Choudhury, poet Diwas Phukan, Dr. Arunima Baruah, Jiten Payeng, poet Anubhab Tulsi, Dr. Simanta Kumar medhi, Sidartha Sankar Kalita, Dipak Sarma and others.
Each book having 60 poems each and published by Pratishruti Prakashan.
"People set world record in various fields but there is no world record in thr highest number of poetry books being released in a single day at a single event composed by an author. I am trying to make it to Guinness World Records and am appplying for the same", Bhuyan said.
